Ayman
Abdel-Bakey, M.D., has been an integral member of the Sterling Behavioral
Health Services staff since March 2002. Dr. Bakey received his medical
degree in 1987 from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, and completed
two years of Residency in Psychiatry at the university’s Institute
of Psychiatry. After relocating to the United States, Dr. Bakey
completed four years of Residency at Baylor College of Medicine
in Houston, Texas. He
was Board Certified in 1998.
Prior
to joining SBHS, Dr. Bakey completed an 18 month fellowship at the
National Institute of Mental Health and worked as a Staff Psychiatrist
at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, D.C. Dr. Bakey currently
treats adult and adolescent patients at SBHS. His areas of interest
include schizophrenia, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and eating
disorders. |

David M. Band, M.D.
Medical Director, Co-founder, Co-director
Dr. Band is the Medical Director of Potomac Centers for Excellence, LLC, the parent company of Sterling Behavioral Health Services, LTD, and Potomac Psychological Center, LLC. He grew up in suburban Philadelphia and received his undergraduate degree in Environmental Biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1975.
After working for one year, including a summer as a Park Ranger, he attended the George Washington University Medical School and graduated in 1980. His Flexible Medical Internship was completed in Boston in 1981, and his Psychiatric Residency at the National Institute of Mental Health – St. Elizabeths Hospital, in Washington, D.C., was completed in 1984. Dr. Band was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Public Health Service, Commissioned Corp., in 1980 and served on active duty for over 20 years. During that time, he worked on the Navajo Reservation in a very rural traditional setting, and then had extensive inpatient and outpatient experience, both clinical and administrative, in an urban setting with patients diagnosed with the full range of psychiatric illnesses.
During his last six years with the USPHS, Dr. Band ran a community-based treatment program in Washington, D.C. Upon leaving the USPHS, he spent 15 months as the Medical Director of an adolescent residential treatment hospital before co-founding Sterling Behavioral Health Services. Dr. Band specializes in treating children and adolescents, including angry and/or depressed teenagers. His areas of clinical expertise include ADHD, mood and anxiety disorders, school problems, obsessive-compulsive disorder, court-ordered psychiatric evaluations, and conduct and behavioral issues, including those associated with pervasive developmental disorders such as Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome.

Lauren Boyle, LCSW
Therapist
Lauren Boyle received her Bachelor of Social Work degree from James Madison University, with a major in social work and a minor in family issues. She then completed her graduate studies at Virginia Commonwealth University receiving a Master’s degree in Social Work. Mrs. Boyle is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who conducts individual and family therapy for adults, adolescents, and children over the age of 3. Mrs. Boyle uses a variety of techniques designed to meet the needs of each client.
Prior to entering private practice, Mrs. Boyle worked with children, adolescents, and families in outpatient and in-home settings, as well as interning at an inpatient psychiatric facility for children and adolescents. She worked with children and families needing crisis intervention for two and a half years prior to entering private practice. Mrs. Boyle has a particular interest in working with children, adolescents, and adults who have had some experience with either sexual assault or domestic violence. Mrs. Boyle also enjoys working with children and families around behavior and parenting challenges.

Maria Carmen V. Gonzales-Vigilar, MD, MS
Psychiatrist
Dr. Gonzales-Vigilar will be joining the Sterling Behavioral Health System on July 11, 2008. She is a board certified child/adolescent and adult psychiatrist. Her interests include developmental disabilities, depression, anxiety, psychosis, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma related conditions including abuse, disruptive behaviors including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Currently, she is the medical director of Grafton, a residential treatment center in Berryville , VA , serving children and adolescents. Her initial medical training was at the University of Santo Tomas , Manila , Philippines where she received her medical degree in 1987. For the next 18 months, she served as a government physician in lower income areas of Manila . In 1990, she came to the United States to pursue graduate studies. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a Masters Degree in Human Nutrition and Foods in 1995. Prior to her formal residency training, she participated in an outreach psychiatric treatment program at St Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington , DC . In 2003, she completed her adult psychiatric residency program at Henry Ford Hospital , Detroit , MI . She continued her training in a child and adolescent fellowship program at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI. She served as the chief resident in her senior year and completed her training in 2006. She became a diplomate under the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology for Adult psychiatry in 2006 and Child/Adolescent psychiatry in 2007. She spent the majority of her practice in an outpatient setting at Michigan before her family moved to Virginia . |

Patrick J. Nisco, II, Ph.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Nisco is a licensed clinical psychologist in Virginia and Maryland. He has over 15 years experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, addressing concerns of ADHD, developmental disorders, depression and anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, and addictions. He provides psychological testing to help clarify diagnoses and treatment recommendations.
Dr. Nisco received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology in Palo Alto, California, and obtained both his Masters in Clinical Psychology and Bachelors in Psychology from Loyola College in Maryland. He completed his internship at the Spring Grove Hospital Center in Catonsville, MD working with adolescent and adult inpatients conducting psychological evaluations for admissions and forensic wards, along with individual and group psychotherapy. His postdoctoral residency with the Patuxent Institution minimum security prison in Sykesville, MD included administering psychological evaluations and group psychotherapy with inmates addressing anger management, developing positive social skills, and substance abuse treatment. Dr. Nisco also trained at the National Center for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (NCPTSD) in Menlo Park, CA, and the Veterans Hospitals in Palo Alto, CA and Baltimore, MD providing evaluations, and individual and group psychotherapy.
Prior to joining SBHS, Dr. Nisco has been on staff as a psychotherapist with outpatient community mental health centers providing testing, individual, family, and couples therapy with all ages, addressing communication skills, behavioral concerns, addictions, and serious mental illnesses. In private practice, Dr. Nisco uses an approach based primarily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and will also utilize other styles of treatment to include a client centered, strength-based, solution focused approach.

Rosemarie Raymond
APRN-BC NP
Rosemarie Raymond received her post-masters Nurse Practitioner certification from George Washington University in 1995. She graduated with a BS in Biology from Fordham University in 1966, a BS in Nursing from Elmhurst College, Illinois in 1979 and a MS in Child and Family Psychiatric Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1993.
Mrs. Raymond is board certified as a Clinical Specialist Adult Mental Health, Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. She is licensed to prescribe medications for clients thirteen years and older.
Prior to coming to Sterling Behavioral Health Mrs. Raymond worked for twenty-four years at Fairfax County Community Mental Health, six years at INOVA Fairfax Hospital Inpatient Psychiatric Unit and as Psychiatric liaison in the emergency room. She has twenty-seven years experience in individual, group and couples therapy and substance abuse relapse prevention counseling. For the last eleven years her primary focus at Northwest Center has been medication management of mentally ill adults with a broad range of psychiatric illness. At Sterling Behavioral Health Services Mrs. Raymond will focus on medication management of adults eighteen years and older.

Laurie Thompson
MA, NCC, LPC, CSOTP
Laurie Thompson is a national board certified counselor experienced in individual, group, and family therapy. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider in Virginia, Mrs. Thompson has extensive experience working with adolescent victims and offenders of sexual abuse. Her professional experience focused on treating children and teens with severe emotional and behavioral issues in a residential facility, providing intensive home-based counseling services to youth and their family members in the community, leading psychotherapy groups for adolescents and parenting groups for care-takers. Mrs. Thompson has experience teaching children with special needs and working with hospice patients.
She received her Bachelors degree in Psychology at the University of Arizona in 1985 and earned her Masters in Counseling from Webster University, St. Louis, MO in 2002.
Mrs. Thompson provides psychotherapy for school-aged children, adolescents, adults and families. Her interests include counseling youth with emotional and behavioral difficulties, stress or trauma issues, eating disorders, loss and grief. Mrs. Thompson also has a special interest in military personnel and their families.

Wayne
Villeneuve, Ed.D., CEO

Wayne
Villeneuve, Ed.D., is the CEO of Potomac Centers for Excellence,
LLC, the parent company of Sterling Behavioral Health Services,
LTD, and Potomac Psychological Center, LLC. Dr. Villeneuve received
his B.S. degree in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University,
his M.S. degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the Medical College
of Virginia, and a doctorate in counseling psychology from the College
of William and Mary. He has over 24 years of postdoctoral mental
health experience in the public and private sector. His areas of
clinical expertise include anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive
disorders. Dr. Villeneuve sees adolescents, adults, and geriatric
clients in his practice. |

Dr Roy Wilensky
Psy.D., LCP
Dr. Roy Wilensky grew up near Philadelphia and attended George Washington University, where he received his BA in anthropology in 1982. After graduating from GW, Dr. Wilensky volunteered for several years at an inner-city health and social services clinic in Washington, DC and received an MSW degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.
He later earned his Psy.D from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University/Washington, DC Campus, as well as a postdoctoral MS in clinical psychopharmacology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. Dr Wilensky was Chief Intern at the University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute; completed his postdoctoral residency with Forensic Health Services, Inc.; and worked under a one-year federal grant designing and implementing mental health programs for community, school, and corporate groups in the aftermath of September 11 and related events. He has taught several doctoral-level psychology courses as well.
Dr. Wilensky is licensed in both clinical psychology and clinical social work. He also provides: individual, couples, and family psychotherapy for adolescents, adults, and geriatric clients. He uses a range of treatment approaches including solution-focused, family systems, clinical hypnosis, and relaxation training. He also conducts psychological and forensic testing in both English and Spanish.
